The wonder of Christmas

Luke 17:21
"People will not say, 'Look, here it is!' or 'There it is!' because God's kingdom is within you."

Here we go with the radically realized eschatology again. Heaven is not in the hereafter. It is right here, now, according to Jesus.

As Rev. Kaaren Anderson at First Unitarian Church of Rochester, NY.  said one time in a sermon, Unitarian Universalism is not interested in getting people into heaven, it is interested in getting heaven into people. Jesus was too.

Christmas is a consciousness transforming season when we reflect on the kingdom within us and among us. Santa brings presents on Christmas morning not after we die. Will you be present to yourself and others this Christmas or will you be spaced out, pre-occupied, disconnected with worries and other pursuits?

I want to recognize and acknowledge the heaven within this Christmas. At the Brockport Unitarian Universalist Fellowship we will be looking for the heaven in us and among us and celebrate it. The wonder of it all is such a great gift and joy.
