What is the origin of April Fool's Day?

Here at UU A Way Of Life Ministries where we are students of A Course In Miracles, we celebrate April Fool's Day as the day of the "tiny mad idea" that we could separate ourselves from the nondualistic Oneness.

This whole thing we call "life" is a joke. ACIM teaches it is a projection of the ego. It is a drama of insanity. We finally realize when it dawns on us that we have been fools that there must be a better way. It is this dawning that precipitates what Unitarian Univeralists refer to as their fourth step, the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. This search, the Universalists have taught us, takes on the path of Unconditional Love.

As we say in church every Sunday:

"Love is the doctrine of this church,
The quest for Truth is its sacrament,
and service is its prayer."
