Here is a snippet of how it starts with a definition of "reality." The fourth principle of Unitarian Univeralism is to affirm and promote the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. This is not post modern "truth," meaning that it can be whatever people in power says it is. "Truth" is based in reality. It is incumbent on us as a religious loving people to be in right relationship with reality.

ReplyDeletePeople who have been caught up in the excitement of Trumpism have become "true believers" which are "the base." These people hate Obamacare but love the Affordable Care Act. They rail against "fake news" but love Alex Jones and Michael Savage and Fox where the news is "fair and balanced." As it turns out that Donald Trump engages in cheating behavior, and lies and deception, they still believe in spite of "reality." Do these people who Trump considers his base engage in bad faith. Do they deliberately lie or are they brainwashed? If they are brainwashed is there any hope that they can enter into right relationship with reality and their fellow Americans?
