From Binghamton New York's Fox 40 TV web site:
One local congregation dedicated it's new solar panel installation Sunday afternoon.
People gathered at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton to learn about the buildings newly installed solar panels. 46 modules are now mounted on the roof of the classroom wing.
The panels are expected to produce over 11,000 watts of power with an annual output of almost 14,000 kilowatt hours.
"Solar resource is 10,000 times greater than the world energy use. And, that is an amount of energy that we receive on planet earth every year. So, solar power is inevitable. Plants have been using it for the past 1.5 billion years, and I'm very hopeful that humans are going to wise up and use it also," said Gay Canough, the President of ETM Solar Works.
The installation was part of the UUCB Green Sanctuary Committee, and the panels are expected to cover 30% of the churches electric load.
Great example of being good stewards of the earth and the implementation of the 7th principle of respect for the interdependent web of all existence.
