Thoughts about #Unfit: The Psychology Of Donald Trump and Unitarian Universalism

Last night I watched #Unfit: The Psychology Of Donald Trump.

Will undecided voters watch it? Maybe.

Will Trump voters watch it? No.

Will anti Trumpers watch it? Yes.

The things highlighted in the documentary are already well known. There is nothing new here for people who follow politics and the news.

The interesting thing for Unitarian Universalists is how anti UU principles Trump and his administration are. If you were looking for the anti-Christ you have found him in Donald Trump and his minions.

Do the Trumpists bring an opposing world view to the Unitarian Universalist view? Yes, there could not be a starker contrast.

Perhaps we UUs would do well to highlight these contrasts. In order to do this, we have to name the sins of the Trumpers. Once we have named the sins, then we must warn others of the danger and articulate a better way. This better way isn't often coherently stated by UUs. However, all one need do is review our seven principles which is rarely done when sermons focus on social justice issues and psycho-babble. Until UUs dig deeper to excavate the spiritual gold of their tradition and share it, the Trumpers will dominate the national conversation.

Take a look at the documentary, and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Film - Linda Ronstadt: The Souind Of My Voice

After church today, 09/15/19, I went to the Little Theater on East Avenue in Rochester, NY and watched Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. Wonderful documentary. I give it a 4.5 on my 5 point scale.

Not only is her music wonderful, but she seems like a decent human being whose passion in life was using her voice as an instrument to sing all kinds of music. She is a gifted musician which is rare in the world of commercial acts which come and go.

On The Basis Of Sex: great film about the civil rights advocacy of Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

After church today I went to see On The Basis Of Sex, a movie about Ruth Bader Ginsberg's civil rights legal work on sex discrimination. It is a great movie, one of the best I have seen in a year.

UUAWOL and the movies

How you doing with your death anxiety?

Want to tackle one last challenge before you depart this earthly coil? How about a walk on the Appalachian Trail with an old friend trying to recover from years of alcohol misuse whom you haven't seen in 40 years?
A Walk In The Woods is a "coming of age" movie for senior citizens wanting to make the most of the years left before decrepitude limits their ability to explore the external world.

A Walk in The Woods is more about the management of existential anxieties than about hiking the Appalachian trail. Thus, it is a movie for grown-ups who have lived life and are not quite yet ready to die, and want to make sense of it all.

Beautiful movie which earns an 8 on the UUAWOL 10 point scale. It is available on Amazon Prime.
