Thought for the day - Who will save us?

"Though we may feel inadequate to the task, in the words of June Jordan, "we are the ones we've been waiting for." Indeed, there is no other to save us."

Sarah Lammert, "The Inherent Worth and Dignity of Every Person", in The Seven Principles In Word and Worship, Ellen Brandenburg, ed., p. 10

Could it be us the Unitarian Universalists who are the people who have covenanted together to promote and affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, every child of God, every incarnate manifestation of the Life force of the Universe, that we have been waiting for? What if we are the yeast in the dough of humanity, and as Jesus said, "the salt of the earth?" What if it us, as a church, that is part of the instigation of cosmic change at this crisis time in the history of humanity? Could it be us, with our moral imagination, that will be a catalyst for an awakening? And if so, what will your contribution of time, talent, and treasure to the effort?
