Daily reflections, Day Six, Be Aware Of The Source Of Miracles

Day six
Be aware of the Source of Miracles.

“Miracles as such do not matter. The only thing that matters is their Source, which is far beyond evaluation.” T-1.1:2:1-2

The “miracle” is a shift in perception in our mind from the world of the ego to the world of the Spirit. When we shed the ego and become aware of the All we experience the peace of God.

Principle 2 tells us that this shift in perception, the miracle, doesn’t really matter, because what matters is the Source, or God, or Tao, or the Higher Power, whatever you want to call it. This Source, of course, is beyond evaluation and understanding. We are told in the Tao Te Ching that the Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth while the named is the mother of ten thousand things.

To experience the Source, sit quietly and go within. When we look on things of the world know that they are an illusion we create.

We are instructed in the first lesson in the ACIM workbook, on Day one, to look slowly around and say to yourself, “Nothing I see in this room (on this street, from this window, in this place) means anything.” We are asked in lesson two to say, “I have given everything I see in this room (on this street, from this window, in this place) all the meaning it has for me.”

And so, we come to understand that the world of the ego is one of projections. We have been socially conditioned to have names for things and these names, we have been taught, instill in our minds some sort of meaning. This “knowledge” is a social construction. The social construction isn’t real. It’s meaning is only something that I and my fellow humans have given it. These “things” and “meanings” are a part of the separation which I have created with my fellow humans to separate myself and ourselves from the Oneness of God.

In a certain sense we are living a lie until we realize and understand that it is but a lie and that there is another reality we can enter into and start living. It is this awareness of our choice which is the miracle and yet this choice, this miracle of changing my mind is only the means to the End not the End in Itself. The End in Itself is what makes the miracle possible for without it there would be nothing to choose.

Be aware of the Source of Miracles and your choice to live in the world of the Spirit are at One with the All..

Ask Alexa - Why am I always distracted?

Alexa: Why am I constantly distracted?

Close all your screens, take three deep beaths, close your eyes, relax your shoulders, and just watch the monkeys scampering in your mind.

Alexa: Did you hear about the two peanuts who went into a bar?

Yes. One was a salted.

Day Five
What is a miracle?

“There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not ‘harder’ or ‘bigger’ than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal. ACIM T-1.I:1-4

This is the first of 50 miracle principles and it is a humdinger.

A miracle is a choice we make in our mind. It has nothing to do with external things. A miracle is a choice for God instead of the ego. A miracle is a choice for Love instead of guilt and fear.

When we consider that we have this choice in our decision making mind, we come to understand that sorting out of our problems are very simple. Love or fear. In making this choice, there is no order of difficulties. The principle suggests the difficulties are not really harder or easier,  or bigger or smaller, or  worse or better. Difficulties simply indicate that we have made the wrong choice.

Do you want to live your life as a victim or as an extension of God’s Love?

Choose.

One of the key ideas in A Course In Miracles is “forgiveness” which means the willingness to give up making other people and things responsible for your unhappiness. Jesus says as He is being crucified, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” I imagine He said this with a laugh.

Most of us these days, are not going to be crucified, but sometimes we may think and feel as if we are. We should never forget that we have the power to change our minds about who and what it is that we think we are.

Today remind yourself, “I am not a victim. I am an extension of God’s love.” This choice is the miracle.

Is there graitude without forgiveness?

Here's a little tip.

There is no gratitude without forgiveness.

We can pretend to be thankful which is better than not, but if there is grievance, resentment, anger, guilt, fear in your heart you can't experience and extend genuine gratitude.

So before you give thanks, consider first whom you have to forgive for making you unhappy. Recognize that you are not a victim but a beloved child of God. Give up you willingness to make other people and situations responsible for your unhappiness.

Having given this up, then reflect on your blessings and give thanks.
