UU A Way Of Life is back

I apologize to my readers for the long hiatus of almost 4 months, but now UU A Way Of Life is back and will be offering reports from the field on the lives of UUs in Western New York and around the country.

The Brockport Unitarian Universalist Fellowship was accepted into the UUA in October, 2011. We are a young congregation having begun services in September of 2009.

We had a wonderful holiday service yesterday, on Christmas, 12/25/2011 lead by our minister, Rev. Peggy Meeker. It consisted of singing Christmas Carols and singing to two house bound members who are ill with cancer.

I have been reading Hafiz and today I find the reading:

"There are so many gifts still unopened from your
birthday. There are so many hand-crafted presents
that have been sent to your door by God.

The Beloved does not remind repeating, 'Everything I have is yours.'"

I went to my daugther and son-in-law's yesterday for Christmas and they have Soltice suns hanging in a mobile in their dinning room which their three kids made and they have a beautiful Soltice sun on the front of their house which glitters. I am pleased to celebrate their earth religion with them.

The J man and I share the same birthday on December 25th. Of course, He wasn't born on the 25th of December most scholars, who have researched the matter, tell us, but the Roman church decided to co-opt the pagans and celebrate His birth on the Soltice. No matter because I am special anyway regardless of His real birthday. And as Hafiz says, the gifts just keep coming. I got another one this morning when I awoke to a new day and decided to resume UU A Way Of Life.
