What are the moral problems in eating animals in our contemporary society?

Tom Ashbrook had a great show on 11/13/09 with Jonathan Safran Foer talking about Foer's new book, "Eating Animals"

Foer is not so much against eating meat as he is about corporation farming and the way it treats animals, ruins the environment and provides unhealthy drug infested meat to Americans who eat more and more of it every year.

The morality of eating meat is questioned in depth and this interview is well worth listening to. It is especially pertinent to Unitarian Universalists who claim to have a respect for, if not a reverence for the interdependent web of all existence.
