The UU goal is peace, liberty, and justice for all. How are we doing?

Do UUs, as a group, tend to experience abundance or deprivation? Do they tend to live in heaven or hell? They covenant together to affirm and promote the goal of world community, liberty, and justice for all. To what extent are UUs making progress towards their goal?

People have a choice: gratitude or complaint, blessing or curse, enough or deprivation. It is a matter of the mind not of circumstances. The richest person in the world is the one for whom whatever they have is enough. The poorest person in the world is the one for whom anything is never good enough.

What kind of a person do you intend to be? The spiritual person is the first and lives in heaven and the deprived person who is unspiritual lives in hell.

This existential awareness is simple. Which do you choose: gratitude or deprivation?

  1. This dichotomy seems overly simplistic and yet it makes a very important point. People have to take responsibility for their own psychological and spiritual environment. Blaming it on other people helps them avoid responsibility and deprives them of happiness.

  2. The UU goal of peace, liberty, and justice for all seems like a marketing slogan rather than an actual "goal". It's like saying that UUs favor, beauty, goodness, and truth. Who can argue with that? So vague as to be worthless. This kind of psychobabble makes me frustrated, dissapointed, and sad with the UU "movement" which is something we should have every day.

  3. It is a sign of wisdom that a person understands that we create our own reality with our interpretations we make of the events and circumstances in the world. In making these interpretations we do have choices about the meanings we make. Thanks for pointing this out and asking us to take responsibility for our choices.
