Suggested spiritual practice of the day #14

Some people are religious but not spiritual. Some people are spiritual but not religious. Some people are both spiritual and religious. Briefly compose your religious and spiritual autobiography so you can share the highlights with someone interested in 5 - 10 minutes.

  1. As has been mentioned before here, I wonder if people have any kind of map to chart their spiritual journey? Osho says that the first step on the spiritual journey is rebellion. Rev. Galen Guengerich says a similar thing when he says that he didn't lose his faith but somebody else's. It wasn't until he lost their faith that he could start to develop his own. The true spiritual journey begins with reflecting on and taking responsibility for one's own interior spiritual life.

  2. Being raised a Catholic we followed a sacramental journey of baptism, first communion, first confession, confirmation, marriage or Holy Orders, and Extreme Unction. This is more a religious journey than a spiritual one but a journey which brings people together at certain times in the life cycle for meaningful social and religious ritual.
