UU A Way Of Life ministries index - Suicide rates by method and by state

Number of states with an Increase in rate of suicide over 30%  since 1999 = 25
Percentage of suicides accomplished by a firearm = 48.5%
Percentage of suicides accomplished by hanging/stangulation, suffocation = 26.9%
Percentage of suicides accomplished by poisoning = 10.4%
States with the highest suicide rate in 2016 = Montana, Alaska, Wyoming
States with the lowest suicide rate in 2016 = New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts

    It is interesting that the states with the highest suicide rates are Red states and the states with the lowest are Blue States. I wonder if there are any studies which correlate political beliefs with suicidality?
