From whence does self knowledge come?

Osho says, "Self-knowledge is the only knowledge there is. What possible value could there be in those who do not know themselves, knowing anything else?"

We are not our egos. We are not our bodies, our personalities, our thoughts, our emotions, our social status. So who are we?

In A Course In Miracles it is taught that we are the decision maker. We are that part of ourselves that can choose between the ego and Love. We get to choose every moment of every day.

Listen for the faint wisp of Love's melody, as Ken Wapnick puts it, that is behind everything.

When we join together to listen and extend our awareness together of the hum of the universe we become aware of who we really are.

Do you hear what I hear?

Unitarian Univeralists covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. What is important in this principle is not "every person" but "worth and dignity." And we can wonder from whence does this "worth and dignity" come? It is from this place of worth and dignity that self knowledge comes.
