A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #207, Review of lesson 187, I bless the world because I bless myself.

Lesson #207
I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
Review of lesson 187 - I bless the world because I bless myself.

The metaphysics of A Course In Miracles teaches that we are all One. To use the vocabulary of the Christian thought system, we are all members of the Body Of Christ. A similar idea of Ralph Waldo Emerson is, what he called, “the oversoul.” Whatever you call this interdependent web of existence, when we bless it, we bless ourselves.

In Alcoholic Anonymous, it is suggested in the twelfth step that we share our recovery with others. It is easy for people to join the recovery community, and all they have to do is want to stop drinking. In a broader sense, the recovery community is open to anybody even if alcohol is not a problem for them, when they want to find a better way to live their lives. Alcoholic Anonymous is the single largest and most effective program of spiritual development in the world.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the love of the interdependent web of all existence of which we all are a part. When we bless one part of the web we bless the whole which makes it holy. “Whole,” “holy,” do you get it?

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of the day and many times in between to remind ourselves that when we bless the world we bless ourselves. Kewl, right?
