Overcoming fears with love, tears with laughter, and distress with joy.

Perhaps you think that fear as well as love can be communicated; and therefore can be shared. Yet this is not so real as it may appear. Those who communicate fear are promoting attack, and attack always breaks communication, making it impossible. Egos do join together in temporary allegiance, but always for what each one can get separately. The Holy Spirit communicates only what each one can give to all. He never takes anything back, because He wants you to keep it. Therefore, His teaching begins with the lesson: To have, give all to all. T-6.V.A.5:6-13

Fear ultimately creates separation and division. Love creates unification and communion. The old saying is “United we stand. Divided we fall.”

In Unitarian Universalism some of us join together to affirm and promote the acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth.

Today it is suggested that we overcome our fears with love, our tears with laughter, and our distress with joy.

Enhancing empathic understanding.

The ego uses the body for attack, for pleasure and for pride. The insanity of this perception makes it a fearful one indeed. The Holy Spirit sees the body only as a means of communication, and because communicating is sharing it becomes communion. T-6.V.A.5:3-5

A Course in Miracles (p. 234). Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

If is an interesting idea that the body is merely a means of communication that contributes to communion.

In Unitarian Universalism some of us covenant together to affirm and promote the acceptance of another and encouragement to spiritual growth.

Today it is suggested that we tune in and enhance empathic understanding of people we come into contact with.

Do you want more of what you are teaching?

T-6.V.A.5. The Holy Spirit, Who leads to God, translates communication into being, just as He ultimately translates perception into knowledge. You do not lose what you communicate.

A Course in Miracles (p. 234). Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

The idea that you do not lose what you communicate is a fundamental idea in ACIM similar to the idea that you learn what you teach. Once this idea is grasped, it leads to the question of what would we have? If it is love, teach love. If it is hate, teach hate. If it is peace, teach peace. If it is joy, teach joy.

In Unitarian Universalism some of us join together to affirm and promote the acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth. The application of this principle involves the practice of unconditional love.

Today it is suggested that we reflect on what we are teaching to others and what we want more of.

Love your enemies?

To the Holy Spirit, there is no order of difficulty in miracles. This is familiar enough to you by now, but it has not yet become believable. Therefore, you do not understand it and cannot use it. We have too much to accomplish on behalf of the Kingdom to let this crucial concept slip away. It is a real foundation stone of the thought system I teach and want you to teach. You cannot perform miracles without believing it, because it is a belief in perfect equality. Only one equal gift can be offered to the equal Sons of God, and that is full appreciation. Nothing more and nothing less. Without a range, order of difficulty is meaningless, and there must be no range in what you offer to your brother. T-6.V.A.4:1-9

A Course in Miracles (pp. 233-234). Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

Spirituality, at its core, is not a set of beliefs but an experience. As an experience there is no order of difficulty. Unconditional love is unconditional. That’s it. The realization of this is a miracle.

In Unitarian Universalism some of us join together to accept one another and encourage each other’s spiritual growth. Francis David, the Unitarian pioneer in the 16th century, said that we need not think alike to love alike. The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of unconditional love.

Today it is suggested that we move beyond thinking, beyond beliefs, choose to love unconditionally, even our enemies as Jesus taught.

From whence have we come and to which we will return.

I have said that the Holy Spirit is the motivation for miracles. He always tells you that only the mind is real, because only the mind can be shared. The body is separate, and therefore cannot be part of you. To be of one mind is meaningful, but to be one body is meaningless. By the laws of mind, then, the body is meaningless. T-6.V.A.3:1-5

A Course in Miracles (p. 233). Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

So many of the ideas in A Course in Miracles seem to be at an advanced level of understanding. These ideas are not easily grasped at a beginning or even intermediate level of spiritual intelligence. Today’s idea, once again, revolves around the consideration of whether a human being is a body with a soul or a soul in a body. Some people would like to say both. This is the answer of the ego which identifies with the body. However, the soul knows better that it cannot be imprisoned totally in any one body.

In Unitarian Universalism some of us join together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. This inherent worth and dignity resides in our soul not in our body as Jesus demonstrated in his resurrection after his body was killed in the crucifixion.

Today it is suggested that we reflect on our true nature and remember from whence we have come and to which we will return.

From where did consciousness arise?

On whom and what do we focus our energy?

God did not make the body, because it is destructible, and therefore not of the Kingdom. The body is the symbol of what you think you are. It is clearly a separation device, and therefore does not exist. The Holy Spirit, as always, takes what you have made and translates it into a learning device. Again as always, He reinterprets what the ego uses as an argument for separation into a demonstration against it. If the mind can heal the body, but the body cannot heal the mind, then the mind must be stronger than the body. Every miracle demonstrates this. T-6.V.A.2:1-7

A Course in Miracles (p. 233). Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

Once again, in the passage above, the metaphysical model of ACIM challenges our usual way of perceiving and interpreting in the ego world. In the Kingdom of God there are no bodies as bodies are a human made object whose purpose, according to ACIM, is learning about the Kingdom of God in our conscious mind. Consciousness arose with the advent of the separation. The function of the Holy Spirit is to help us remember from whence our consciousness arose and to which it will return. Consciousness can create hell or heaven depending on where we want to focus our mind, in whom or what we trust, and in what we engage our energy and activities.

In Unitarian Universalism some of us join together to affirm and promote our inherent worth and dignity which comes from our Transcendent Source of which we are a part and has nothing to do with our bodies.

Today it is suggested that we take some time to remember who and what we are, in who or what we trust, and on whom or what we want to focus our energy.
