Did you know the US is at war in Yemen? What's wrong with America.

On 12/31/09 Glenn Greenwald talked on Democracy Now about the 5 wars which the US is fighting in Muslim countries. He makes a lot of interesting points, stuff you won't hear or read in the corporate media. Here is the snippet from the Democracy Now web site:

As 2009 comes to a close, today we begin by taking a step back and putting this year of war in perspective. Salon.com blogger Glenn Greenwald discusses US foreign policy, including the escalation of the war in Afghanistan, drone strikes on Pakistan, cruise missile attacks on Yemen, operations in Somalia, the ongoing operation in Iraq, and much more.

While you're on the Democracy Now web site make a donation to keep them going. They have no corporate sponsors so it is much more likely that they will tell us the truth.

Unitarian Universalists believe in the right of conscience and the use of democratic process within our congregations and in society at large, but this is a high ideal rarely realized in actuality. As George Carlin said in the earlier video Americans are free to pick which type of 27 bagels they want but not whether their nation is at war or not. They can choose between 127 different types of breakfast cereals but not whether there is a public option in health insurance reform or not.

Do you feel our democracy slipping away to corporate interests?

Greed is the new virtue and the bottom line dictates right and wrong, good and evil, our national priorities.

Only people like Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith can build a better world where priorities are based on what's best for the interdependent web of all existence and not just my stock portfolio.

  1. "They have no corporate sponsors so it is much more likely that they will tell us the truth."

All that means is that they will not be spreading any corporate sponsored propaganda etc. It does not mean that the are more likely to tell the truth. They can have plenty of other motivations to be "less than truthful". What corporate sponsors does the UUA have? None that I know of but the UUA is perfectly capable of twisting the truth and telling outright lies if doing so suits its purposes.
