A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #54 - The search for Truth and Meaning

 Lesson #54
Review of lessons 16-20

16. I have no neutral thoughts.
17. I see no neutral things.
18. I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.
19. I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.
20. I am determined to see.

No human is an island. We all are interdependent whether we want to recognize it and admit it or not. There is no such thing as the American myth of the “self made man.” We are a product of our culture, of our language, of our thoughts, or our stories, of all the people who have helped us survive and thrive..

Do you wake up in the morning and like yourself and the world you are living in or don’t like yourself and don’t like the world you are living in? The answer to this question determines the course of your day.

Step ten in Alcoholics Anonymous encourages us to continue to take a personal inventory and when there is a problem promptly admit it. Socrates said that the unexamined life is not worth living, and the satirical bumper sticker says that the unlived life is not worth examining. The lessons we are reviewing today remind us that our sense of reality is a product of our thoughts and when they are focused on the things in the world of the ego there will inevitably be big problems. We come to the realization that there must be a better way which is called “the dawning” and this, then leads to “the search” for what this better way might be.

Unitarian Universalists covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity, and compassion in human relations; the free and responsible search for truth and meaning.

When we are determined to see, the authentic search for Truth and Meaning is undertaken.

My kind of church music.
