Religion in the public square - Chris Hedges, Introspection has been crushed out

Socrates taught that the unexamined life is not worth living. Chris Hedges teaches in the film, American Psychosis, that America, ever becoming a totalitarian society, has crushed the activity of introspection out of the public by its constant stimulation of entertaining sensationalism.

Unitarian Universalists covenant together to affirm and promote the free and responsible search of truth and meaning something which American society increasingly treats with contempt and disdain especially with a media that emphasizes "click bait" with sensationalized headlines to grab attention for advertisers and manipulate the will of the electorate.

UU A Way Of Life encourages everyone, especially UUs, to use their screens very judiciously and to take the time to reflect, examine, and discuss with a trusted partner your meaning and truth as you examine your life. This may be one of the most political things you can do to enhance the common welfare.
