Vote and campaign for those who engage in the democratic process and not the Big Lie

The fifth of the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism is to covenant together to affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.

The Jan 6th committee hearings lift up the importance of the democratic process instead of the Big Lie. When citizens campaign and vote, they should be encouraged to campaign andvote for candidates who believe in the democratic process.

In the stillness, peace and joy arise.

T-5.III.6. I have repeatedly emphasized that one level of the mind is not understandable to another. So it is with the ego and the Holy Spirit; with time and eternity. Eternity is an idea of God, so the Holy Spirit understands it perfectly. Time is a belief of the ego, so the lower mind, which is the ego’s domain, accepts it without question. The only aspect of time that is eternal is now.

Time is one of those things that isn’t real. It is an illusion created in the ego world to give the ego the idea that it has some control. The before and after become idols of the ego mind. We love history and to pine for the future. These preoccupations preclude the awareness of the present, the now, what the Course calls the “Holy Instant.”

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the free and responsible search for truth and meaning. This truth and meaning is not to be found in the past or in the future, but by going inward and getting in touch with the Tao where time stands still.

Today, take some time to clear the mind of thoughts of the past or the future and just rest in the present where there is no time but simply the present. Experience the lack of time where time stands still. Just be still. In the stillness peace and joy arise.

Where did the time go?

Delay is of the ego, because time is its concept. Both time and delay are meaningless in eternity. I have said before that the Holy Spirit is God’s Answer to the ego. Everything of which the Holy Spirit reminds you is in direct opposition to the ego’s notions, because true and false perceptions are themselves opposed. The Holy Spirit has the task of undoing what the ego has made. He undoes it at the same level on which the ego operates, or the mind would be unable to understand the change. T-5.III.5: 1 - 6

In the world of Spirit there is no time. There is no before. There is no after. There is only the present. The Holy Spirit, if you will allow, undoes the ego. This undoing is freedom. Be free.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the interdependent web of existence where there is no time and everything is part of the whole. Everything is holy, holy, holy.

Today, sit still and enter into the timeless space where time stands still. When you re enter the world of the ego you might say, “Where did the time go?”

Look for the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

The Voice of the Holy Spirit is weak in you. That is why you must share It. It must be increased in strength before you can hear It. It is impossible to hear It in yourself while It is so weak in your mind. It is not weak in Itself, but It is limited by your unwillingness to hear It. If you make the mistake of looking for the Holy Spirit in yourself alone your thoughts will frighten you because, by adopting the ego’s viewpoint, you are undertaking an ego-alien journey with the ego as guide. This is bound to produce fear. T-5.III.4: 1 - 7

A Course in Miracles . Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

We have a choice: to listen to the ego or to Spirit, to listen to conditional love or unconditional love. The voice for unconditional love is weak within us because we live in fear of being hurt, rejected, attacked. When we look for unconditional love only in ourselves, the ego scoffs, ridicules, tells us we are fools. It is when we perceive unconditional love in others that we recognize and can strengthen it in ourselves.

Unitarian Universalists covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. In joining together to uplift this inherent worth and dignity of every person  peace and joy arise.

Today, look for the inherent worth and dignity in every person you meet.

Look for the good, the true and the beautiful in others to find them in ourselves.

It is strengthened by being given away. It increases in you as you give it to your brother. Your brother does not have to be aware of the Holy Spirit in himself or in you for this miracle to occur. He may have dissociated the Call for God, just as you have. This dissociation is healed in both of you as you become aware of the Call for God in him, and thus acknowledge Its being. T-5.III.2: 6 - 10

Unitarian Universalists covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. When you see inherent worth and dignity  in your brother and sister, you become more aware of it in yourself.

A Course In Miracles says that we learn what we teach, we receive what we share. The Spiritual world is not a zero sum game, but one of abundance. It does not operate on the principle of division but on the principle of multiplication.

Today, it is suggested that we look for the good, the true, and beautiful in others and in so doing we become more aware of their existence in ourselves.

The Divine Spark In Every Person

The way to recognize your brother is by recognizing the Holy Spirit in him. T-5.III.1: 1

A Course in Miracles . Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

Peace Pilgrim said that she looked for the Divine Spark in every person she met. What a great way to live.

In Unitarian Universalism we join together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Today, took for the Divine Spark in every person you meet and if so moved, acknowledge it in some way.

Does Love motivate your behavior?

I have enjoined you to behave as I behaved, but we must respond to the same Mind to do this. This Mind is the Holy Spirit, Whose Will is for God always. He teaches you how to keep me as the model for your thought, and to behave like me as a result.T-5.II.12: 1 - 3

A Course in Miracles . Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.

Jesus is clear in this passage in saying that we should behave as he behaved. Waking up is not just a matter of thoughts and feelings, waking up is manifested in behavior. The behavior is motivated by the Mind which provides a model for how Love is physically enacted.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. UUs are encouraged to make these values manifest in the world. This is what Jesus did.

Today, it is suggested that we monitor our behavior and guide it by Love.
