Lesson #244
I am in danger nowhere in the world.
Are you a soul in a body or a body with a soul? You are a soul with a body and as such you are in danger nowhere in the world for God is with you always wherever your soul goes.
In Alcoholics Anonymous, it is suggested in step eleven that we improve our conscious contact with our Higher Power through prayer and meditation. Nowadays, we call this “mindfulness.” Mindfulness is witnessing our functioning and communing with the Oneness of God.
In Unitarian Universalism, we covenant together to affirm and promote the respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part, and how could we be afraid because as part of the interdependent web our souls are in danger nowhere in the world.
Today, we are encouraged to be mindful and identify with our souls not our bodies. Bodies are temporary things, but souls exist forever.
