I will not hurt myself again today.
Would I choose my own willfulness or my willingness to do God’s will for me? I will not hurt myself again today by choosing my willfulness.
In Alcoholic Anonymous it is suggested, in step three, that we make a decision to turn our will over to our Higher Power after, in step one, we admit that our lives, by ourselves, are unmanageable.
In Unitarian Universalism, we join together to affirm and promote the free and responsible search for truth and meaning which takes us from our egos to a recognition and acknowledgement of our Transcendent Source. In our search we come to realize that we do not want to hurt ourselves any longer pursuing things in the world of the ego but rather turn our focus on the world of the Spirit which is Love.
Today, it is suggested in lesson #330 that we no longer hurt ourselves any longer by focusing on the enticements of the ego. Rather we can ask, “What would love have me do?”
