A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #330 - I will not hurt myself again today.

 Lesson #330

I will not hurt myself again today.

Would I choose my own willfulness or my willingness to do God’s will for me? I will not hurt myself again today by choosing my willfulness.

In Alcoholic Anonymous it is suggested, in step three, that we make a decision to turn our will over to our Higher Power after, in step one, we admit that our lives, by ourselves, are unmanageable.

In Unitarian Universalism, we join together to affirm and promote the free and responsible search for truth and meaning which takes us from our egos to a recognition and acknowledgement of our Transcendent Source. In our search we come to realize that we do not want to hurt ourselves any longer pursuing things in the world of the ego but rather turn our focus on the world of the Spirit which is Love.

Today, it is suggested in lesson #330 that we no longer hurt ourselves any longer by focusing on the enticements of the ego. Rather we can ask, “What would love have me do?”

A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #329 - I have already chosen what You will.

 Lesson #329

I have already chosen what You will.

Our existence is God’s will or we wouldn’t be here. We have forgotten this or denied it but that doesn’t change the fact that at an unconscious level I have already chosen what God wills.

In Alcoholics Anonymous it is suggested in step three that we make a decision to turn our willfulness over to God’s will. When we let go and let God peace and joy come into our lives.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person recognizing that their life is an extension of God’s will for them and for us in knowing them.

Today, it is suggested that we remind ourselves that we are here only because of God’s will and realizing this, our existence and experience is evidence that we have chosen what God has willed for us.

Quote of the day - UU and self righteous indignation

"Many people have walked away disgusted from Unitarian Universalism because of the self righteous indignation expressed by those in power to silence those with whom they disagree. This is one reason that congregations and the denomination remains so small and has little influence in the broader society."

Editor's note: Common complaints heard about UU is that it is too intellectual, it relies on psychobabble, that the people don't seem to love but want to argue in committees about inconsequential things. With the lack of a common core of understanding about the vision and mission of the faith, the people wander and then fight amongst themselves and then go their separate ways in a huff with disgust never to return. The lack of any central authority which can reconcile disagreements leads to egocentric functioning based on individualistic belief that everyone's preference is as good as everyone else's and thus we observe the modern day version of the Tower of Babel

A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #328 - I choose the second place to gain the first.

 Lesson #328

I choose the second place to gain the first.

Jesus said that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. What does this mean? One meaning is that if I insist on my willfulness I’ll bring pain and suffering onto myself, but if I choose to align my will with God’s will for me, I will gain peace and bliss.

In Alcoholic Anonymous it is suggested, in step eleven, that we improve our conscious contact with God as we understand our Higher Power. The will of our Higher Power becomes the moral compass that we use to orient ourselves on our journey through life.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the free and responsible search for truth and meaning which is to be found in discerning God’s will for us. Being willing to set our own will aside and discern God’s will for us is the name of the game.

Today it is suggested that we choose the second place to gain the first which means that we give up our own will to follow God’s will for us.

A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #327 - I need but call and You will answer me.

 Lesson #327

I need but call and You will answer me.

While reading today’s lesson I am reminded of James Taylor’s great song, You’ve Got A Friend. “When you call out my name, I’ll come running to see you again.” God is not only our creator, God is our best friend ever.

In Alcoholic Anonymous it is suggested, in step eleven, that we improve our conscious contact with God through prayer and meditation. How about that?

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote a free and responsible search for truth and meaning which comes down to calling to our Transcendent Source.

Today, it is suggested that we remind ourselves that the world of Love is our natural inheritance and is always there for us. What we need to do is clear away all the clutter from the ego world and get in touch with that which has always been there, within.
