A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #220, Review of lesson #200 - There is no peace but the peace of God.

 Lesson #220

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Review of lesson #200 - There is no peace except the peace of God.

When most people are asked what they want out of life, they will reply “to be happy.” And if we ask them further, “What is this thing you call ‘happiness’?’ they stumble a bit and stutter for it is difficult to articulate what, in fact, will make one happy. Probably what people want most of all is contentment, peace, serenity, maybe even bliss.

It is suggested in Alcoholics Anonymous in step eleven that we seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God believing that this will bring us the peace and contentment we crave.

In Unitarian Universalism, we covenant together to affirm and promote the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Today, it is suggested that we begin and end the day, and many times in between, taking a minute or two or more to remind ourselves that there is no peace but the peace of God which is to be found within not without.

A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #219, Review of lesson #199 - I am not a body. I am free.

 Lesson #219

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Review of lesson #199 - I am not a body. I am free.

Are you a body with a soul or a soul with a body? Very important and significant question which is not to be just brushed over as a trivial inquiry because the answer has tremendous implications for the way you see yourself and live your life and relate to others.

In Alcoholics Anonymous, it is suggested in step twelve that having had a spiritual awakening we share our new consciousness with others. The primary message being one of hope and a possible strategy for the same awakening.

In Unitarian Universalism, we covenant together to affirm and promote the awareness of the inherent worth and dignity of every person which comes not from their body but from the Divine Spark within them which is shared with all humanity and all things.

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of the day, and many times in between, to remind ourselves that we are not bodies but are free to be as God created us to be, which is loving consciousnesses.

A Course In Miracles Lesson #218, review of lesson #198 - Only my condemnation injures me.

Lesson #218

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Review of lesson # 198 - Only my condemnation injures me.

As human beings we judge, we compare, we contrast, we compete, and those found deficient or less than we condemn and consider not worthy or as good as and we feel superior. Today’s lesson teaches that this comparison and condemnation rather than help me become my better self often harms me by looking down on my fellows and excluding them to an inferior class instead of joining with them for the good of the whole.

It is suggested in Alcoholic Anonymous in step twelve that we carry our spiritual awakening to all people for in helping others we help ourselves.

In Unitarian Universalism, we covenant together to affirm and promote the acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth. For in lifting up others, all are uplifted, and in condemning others, the whole of humanity is injured.

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of the day, and many times in between, to consider the idea that my condemnation injures me. To recognize that we are all one is the path to peace and joy.

A Course In Miracles Lesson #217, Review of lesson #197 - It can be but my gratitude I earn.

 Lesson #217
I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
Review of lesson #197 - It can be but my gratitude I earn.

When we do good things with good intentions will these efforts bring success? Does our doing these good things depend on success? If so, we have engaged in these good works with a wrong perspective. We do good things just because we love doing them, not for any reward such as success. Success is in the hands of God and far beyond our control. We do good things to be faithful not to be successful and in this faithful service is reward in and of itself.

It is suggested in Alcoholic Anonymous in step nine that we make direct amends to people we have harmed as long as it does no further harm. Often this making of amends can be unknown to the victim. Our making of amends is the rectification of the imbalance in the universe and in our activity of making amends the world is healed by our healing ourselves.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. Often these efforts fall on deaf ears and hardened hearts and yet we continue to affirm and promote them anyway because of the healing benefits of these efforts for those who promote and affirm them.

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and the end of the day and several times in between to remind ourselves that it can be but my gratitude that I earn.

And so it goes...........observations during the week of April 4 - April 10

Easter is a remembrance that Love wins over the body. The body can be killed but the soul is forever.
-------------------------------
People mistake “racism” for “prejudice” and “discrimination.” Racism is systemic and as white people say “I don’t see color,” not because they are prejudiced or even consciously discriminatory but simply because they  narcissistically  think that their privilege is natural and how things are supposed to be for them.

Some people say that when they sit real quiet and still and clear their minds of all thoughts, and relax their bodies, they feel the Love Of God within them. Did that ever happen to you?

Did you ever notice that sports is the new religion? It’s what most people watch on Sundays. They dress up in the vestments, chant the hymns of praise to their team, identify with  a mythical group that is bigger than themselves, and spend far more to indulge their participation than they would ever put in a collection plate.

“A few days later, I yelled at him for losing his new lunch box. And he turned to me and said, ‘Are you sure you’re my mother. Sometimes you don’t seem like a good enough person.’ He was just a kid so I let it go. And now, years later, I probably only think of it, I don’t know, one or twice a day.” Jenny Offill, Weather, p.23

“It is dusk when Henry and I leave the park. A car nearly runs over us. Now we’re right next to her at the light. My brother goes up to the window. ‘Lady, you almost killed us,’ he tells her. But she won’t look at him. ‘You and your precious lives,’ she says.” Jenny Offill, Weather, p. 57

“She tells me that her phone was stolen and she’s been using a really old one instead. She won’t get the newest model, she’s decided. ‘So I just go at a slower pace. I know I’m missing things because I can’t respond quickly enough to what people say or show me, but that’s okay. It gives me more time to think,” she says.” Jenny Offill, Weather, p.61

A friend, 75  mentioned that honoring the Sabbath, after having gone by the wayside for the most part, might be a good ritual for our culture to resurrect and follow. He has begun to do so, and I have followed his example. If God got a day off once a week, it might be a good idea for us humans too.

A Course In Miracles Lesson #216, Review of lesson #196 - It can be but myself I crucify.

Lesson #216

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Review of lesson #196 - It can be but myself I crucify.

The metaphysics of the Course teaches that human beings are all one. In Christianity, this idea is known as “The Body of Christ.” The bumper sticker says one for all and all for one.

The Course teaches that separation is an illusion. We see ourselves as separate drops of the ocean and forget from whence we came and to which we shall return. When we pollute other drops of the ocean, we only pollute ourselves.

In Alcoholic Anonymous, it is suggested in step seven that we make a list of all persons we have harmed, and in step nine make amends where it would do no further harm for we realize that when we harm others we have harmed ourselves.

In Unitarian Universalism, we covenant together to affirm and promote the acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth for we recognize and acknowledge that in caring for others we care for ourselves and in harming others we harm ourselves.

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of the day, and many times in between, to remind ourselves that it can be but myself I crucify when I attack others.

A Course In Miracles Workbook Lesson #215, Review of lesson #195 - Love is the way I walk in gratitude.

 Lesson #215
I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
Review of lesson #195 - Love is the way I walk in gratitude.

There are many paths we can take in life such as bitterness or joy, resentment or forgiveness, peace or grievance. Today, we are reminded that we can walk in gratitude and love. So what are we grateful for? Focus on that.

In Alcoholic Anonymous it is suggested in step eleven that we seek to improve our conscious contact with God through prayer and meditation and when we do that we walk in gratitude and love and give up bitterness and resentment and guilt and fear.

In Unitarian Universalism we covenant together to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person and when we consider this inherent worth and dignity we praise God with joy and celebration for life is so good it seems almost overwhelming with joy.

Today, it is suggested that we take fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of the day, and many times in between, to consider gratitude for our existence here on the earth plane to intentionally walk in Love.
